Batu was a the leader of the Mongol forces that pushed west, into Europe. At the head of the Blue (later Golden) Horde, he steamrolled through modern-day Russia and eastern Europe. With Subedei as his general and advisor, Batu planned to expand his khanate all the way to the Atlantic Ocean.

Leading the Blue Horde of the Mongol Empire, Batu Khan conquered westward as far as Germany before being recalled to Karakorum to participate in the election of the grand khan. Many believe that this was all that prevented the Mongols from extending their empire to the Atlantic coasts of Europe.

Batu Khan was the tournament winner card in December of 2005. It was also the tournament organizer card for the 2006/07 Winter Gauntlet.

I know that if you discard Tlacochtli while using Batu Khan and critically hit, you don't get another swing with it, but if you have another weapon and could you're in the right space in your grid, could you attack with it?
•Yes.
Referring to the Batu Khan question, are the two "types" of attacks Basic and Weapon?
•Actually, it's a little more complicated than that. Attacks can be weapon or basic, but can also be 'at +X', 'if possible', or simply made (as in the case of Marcus).
•So, if Batu Khan crit with a Shuriken, he'd get a free at +0 basic attack.
If Batu Khan makes a critical hit with Petrini Maza, is he allowed to make another attack with it at +0 with a base damage of 4, or will the "Once each round" part of the action ability stop it?
•There are 2 types of attacks, as detailed by the rulebook: basic attacks and weapon attacks. If you satisfy Batu Khan's condition with a weapon attack, like Petrini Maza, you get another weapon attack. However, since you cannot make a normal weapon attack with Petrini Maza (since it has no attack grid), you will need another weapon in play to attack with.
So how would it work if Batu made a critical hit using Jericho?
•You'd get a free basic attack, which would follow the normal rules for placement, grids, etc. for basic attacks. You would not get anther attack with Yereho's parameters and conditions.

Trivia
- Batu was one of the primary contendors to take over as the new Great Khan.
- Even after the election of Ogedei's successor, and even without Subedei, Batu planned to reach the Atlantic. Internal strife amongst the khans, and his death in 1255, never gave him the chance.
