In preparation for his siege of Constantinople, Mehmed II planned a second fortification on the Bosporus Strait. Anadolu Hisari was on the Asian side, and the new Rumeli Hisari would be on the European side. Through rewards, punishment, and competition, the fortification was complete in just over four months.
