Tlacaelel

Page history last edited by PBworks 17 years, 3 months ago

The Aztec Empire was ruled by people in two positions. In addition to the tlatoani (akin to an "emperor" in charge of external affairs) was the cihuacoatl (in charge of internal affairs, could be likened to a chief priest). Tlacaelel was the penultimate Aztec cihuacoatl; working alongside Moctezuma I, he rewrote the history and religion of the Mexica people into a glorious tale that made the Aztec Empire their destiny.

Ohuipetlachiuh: When you hit with a basic attack, the defender chooses to either get -1 to all of their rolls on their next turn or for you to gain 1 life. If the attack was a critical hit, apply both options.

Inexorable and cruel, Tlacaelel elevated the bloodthirsty cult of Huitzilopochtli by dedicating the seventh reconstruction of the Templo Mayor to him.

Gameplay

Tlacaelel is the most popular warrior choice for Stasis-like decks, gaining life and drawing the game out as long as possible. He is often used with cards such as Udjat Eye, Al Derra, and Buzdugan cu Crampoane to maximize the "stasis" effect.

History in Brief

Anachronism Package Blurb

"Further elevating the bloodthirsty cult of Huitzilopochtli, which his uncle Itzcóatl had identified with the sun god, Tlacaelel instituted the Xochivaovotl, or Flower Wars, as a means of both demonstrating Aztec military power and taking captives. He also began a systematic marrying of Aztec nobles to the aristocratic Toltec families of Cholula, as a means of elevating the lineage of his people. Having ordered the destruction of all records that made reference to the humble origins of the Aztecs, he also incorporated elements of Toltec ideology into Aztec culture. Inexorable in his desire to see his people exalted, he erased histories and spilled the blood of thousands to ensure that the sun would not falter in its path across the sky. Use Tlacaelel, High Priest and Grand Vizier of the Aztecs, to drive ineluctably towards a greatness built on noble heritage and the blood of your fallen enemies."

Trivia

Tlacaelel...

  • was offered the position of tlatoani on multiple occasions, but turned it down so he could remain as more of an unseen power.
