He was William, Duke of Normandy, and in line to become king of England. But when someone else claimed the English Crown, William went on the offensive. Starting with the Battle of Hastings, the series of events known as the Norman Conquest would end up with the duke becoming King William I of England.

Note: This card was never printed. The final version from the design team has been spoiled to players on the Anachronism forums. There's no telling whether or not this card will be printed, and if it were, that it'd have the same text as the spoiled version.
