Xanthippus was a general who fought for Carthage in the First Punic War. He was a Spartan mercenary who was able to take stock of the strengths and weaknesses of the Carthaginian forces, and greatly improved their military. His changes in Carthaginian tactics and formations were devastatingly effective against Roman forces, as seen at the Battle of Tunis. Though Xanthippus was successful, Carthaginian aristocrats weren't very amenable to foreigners in powerful positions; he left Carthage's service before they might turn on him.
Status of Set 8
Note: This card was never printed. The final version from the design team has been spoiled to players on the Anachronism forums. There's no telling whether or not this card will be printed, and if it were, that it'd have the same text as the spoiled version.
As is, one will notice things missing, since the card hasn't been finished. There's no artist or flavor text; card names and ability titles are English, rather than Punic.
